Server pick beta weekend

Post by Logar »

Dwain and I are currently trying to get on the server : "Mind Trick"

It's an american server, european servers only have 1 english version, so we're afraid that will get flooded very soon.
We can always switch later if more european servers get available.

I'm also on the server
Nick is: Selande, an imperial agent (currently lvl 3)

First impressions, great storytelling, but my computer seems to have quite some trouble with graphics or connection. Will try to adjust the settings tommorow.

I'm gonna stay on Firkrann Crystal since I was started before you choose your testserver.

I'm done with the first area and are currently lvl10 - 1 bar from lvl 11. I've had a few lagg issues and had to restart my PC since the system froze, the only complant I got so far is the the loading time of content it takes to long and if you switch between browser and the game it takes some time to redraw the entire graphics.

Tommorrow I'll continue from around 10.00 - just need to make alittle shopping first :p

lvl 10 as well, just did my first flashpoints with Dwain, very much fun.

For me it runs great, no complaints at all. I run it in windowed mode which doesnt give trouble switching between applications. Besides that no noticable lag, connectionwise or system-wise. I'm seriously considering going bountyhunter tbh, what a great class :D.

Not sure how the replayibility is going to pan out for flashpoints, there is alot of dialogue in there. Great for first time play, but perhaps tedious if you're doing it more times.

Just made it to level 6... and I do feel a bit dirty I have to say. Think I'll stick to the 'wise guy and a bit good' attitude, so light points for me in most situations :)

Runs really smooth here. All settings on max and only some server lag here and there... but nothing to bad. Really enjoying the backstory of my Inquisitor. Still getting used to my abilities in some fights. And also managed to die twice due to great ninja pulls I did :P

Isn't there an autoskip movies option for the flashpoints? Really interested in seeing how a flashpoint turns out to be :)

I'm really liking the crafting skills, got my Sith Warrior up to lvl 12 and I've choosen Cybertech, Scavenging and Slicing. Using slicing I've allready found my first epic items, spend 1 hour working on boosting those skills and after I'm done working (IRL) today I'm gonna move forward hoping to get my ship at the end of the day - I'm glad that we also got the time to play tomorrow

characther vice I'm atm torn between Bounty Hunter and Sith Warrior but the future will prevaile my choice for the Dark Side :p

Really? Cool :D
Chosen Bio stuff myself... fits the IRL stuf the most I guess. And again I'm 'skinning' annimals by scanning them and then making nice medpacks ^^
Sith Sorcerers are pretty awesome imho, story is nice... good choices for dark and light stuff and I can really be 'me' in that role. Very nice!

I have been quite busy this weekend with other stuff that was already planned, so I now just have some free time to try the game out a bit.

Unfortunately I need to download everything, but luckily it goes at over 10 MB/s :-)

Played the assassin this time. A lot of fun but:

magic < rockets
ranged > melee

So bountyhunter powertech for me.

Powertech bountyhunter is the melee/veryshortrange advanced class of the bounty hunter ;)

Mercenary focusses on rockets + blasters

Couldn't help myself getting my assassin up to her own ship last night. The space combat thingy is pretty fun, although I did hope for a bit more 'cinematic' spacefights :). Also so far they're pretty easy, I expect that to get harder though, only 3 missions were available yet.

So don't expect too much out of the space combat-gimmick, it's fun as an extra though.
I also got epic boots last night, so it seems epics arent that rare in the game. It wasnt that much better then my blue either though, around 16 willpower upgrade

And I decided, definately going bountyhunter. I'll still take a sith assassin as an alt, just because I probably will miss tanking. But bountyhunter first :D !!

Ah yes I guess that wasn't too obvious. No I especially like the bountyhunter as a highly mobile gadgetty ranged class, so I'll be going mercenary (dps/healing). Although I haven't played the advanced classes yet, the close range powertech bountyhunter doesn't appeal as much to me as the mercenary. Hence the 'miss tanking' comment.

I thought that you meant that indeed... but just double checking :)

I'm really sticking with my Sorcerer... He's just to cool as a ranged/healer with a bit of melee in there. But a bountyhunter is also my first choice as an alt I think.

The sith warrior did indeed dissapoint in the gameplay, bit too simple and wow-warrior-like.
Havent got a chance to play the imperial agent, anyone able to comment on its gameplay/story?

@Varda, just keep in mind inquisitor-sorcerer (ranged) has healing and dps.
The inquisitor-assasin (melee) has tanking and dps.

Not sure how much you can play the sorcerer subclass more as a melee character, ofcourse he also has the melee abilities. So in early play you can definately play a hybrid role in this. Dont know about higher levels.

@Dwain,
story of the agent was alot of fun and unique as well. Imperial agent starts out with 'infiltrating' the hutta gangs of Nem'ro. So there's alot of subterfuge and infiltration in it's early story. As a character I think this is really an ideal character for Selande since it's very easy to play this one as a 'lawfull good' character.

Gameplay is all about ranged abilities using the various stones and walls of your environment as 'cover'. This works really smooth, as soon as you start combat, locations around you are highlighted where you can 'roll and cover' behind them. As long as you're in cover you're harder to hit by ranged attacks and several of your special abilities unlock (example: sniper shot).
It was definately unique and fun, but probably the least fitting to my playstyle, since I enjoy mobility alot, and this class has the least mobility due to it's cover mechanic. As said before, it really striked me as the character Selande should play though ;).
Played it through to level 6 or so.

@Sith warrior, my thoughts exactly, pretty much 80% the same. Although I have a long history of melee-ownage... Been there, done that :)
